Stonebwoy Criticizes “Negative Mentality” Among Ghanaians.

Stonebwoy Criticizes "Negative Mentality" Among Ghanaians.

Reggae and dancehall artist Stonebwoy has voiced his concern over what he sees as a prevalent negative mindset among Ghanaians. He believes this negativity is hindering the progress of Ghanaian artists and needs to be addressed.

Stonebwoy pointed to recent incidents, such as his interaction with Nigerian influencer Peller and his encounter with Taylor Swift at the Grammys, where he received negative feedback from some Ghanaians. He finds it “heartbreaking” that such a mentality persists in 2025.

“It’s heartbreaking and [this negativity from Ghanaians] needs to be addressed because in as much as we can’t wash our dirty linens outside, it’s heartbreaking to realize that in 2025, there’s this level of mentality that is still surrounding us as Ghanaian people,” he stated.

He fears this negativity will discourage other artists from pursuing valuable opportunities and connections. Stonebwoy hopes for a shift in perspective to create a more supportive and encouraging environment for Ghanaian creatives.
