In a significant achievement, the City of Boston has designated March 2nd as the official Burna Boy Day, marking the inaugural celebration on Saturday, March 2nd, 2024.

Since making a global impact, Burna Boy has been a pioneer in exporting African music, blending genres seamlessly and delivering captivating performances.

Councilor Ruthzee Louijeune revealed this news in a press release, acknowledging Burna Boy’s role in promoting African culture through his music. The statement also commended his advocacy work, sparking conversations on social justice, representation, and equality.

This recognition extends beyond the artist, honoring the Nigerian community, the largest African immigrant group in the U.S. and Massachusetts, for enriching the nation’s cultural diversity.

Burna Boy now shares the distinction of having an official day with fellow Nigerian musicians Wizkid and Davido in the United States.
