Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti has disclosed an intriguing aspect of his late father, Fela Anikulapo Kuti’s, personal life, revealing that the pioneer of Afrobeats had over 100 concubines.

While it is widely known that Fela had 27 wives, Seun Kuti revealed that many people were unaware of the over 100 concubines who also lived in Fela’s house. He made this revelation during the latest episode of the ‘Bahd & Boujee’ podcast, co-hosted by reality star Tolanibaj and actress Moet Abebe.

“People only know of Fela’s 27 wives, they don’t know of his over 100 girlfriends that lived with us in the house,” Seun remarked.

This revelation follows Seun Kuti’s previous disclosure about his father’s 1978 mass wedding, where Fela married 27 women in a single day. This bold act was intended to preserve the honor and dignity of his female dancers and band members, who were being labeled as “prostitutes” by the media.
