South African actress Khosi Ngema, known for her breakout role in the Netflix hit “Blood & Water,” is stepping into the music scene. Ngema, who goes by the stage name Kho’si, recently released her debut single “Why,” showcasing her songwriting and singing talents.

While acting as Fikile Bhele in “Blood & Water” launched her career, Ngema aspires to be more than just an actress. Music feels more personal and allows her to express herself authentically.

Ngema is aiming high, hoping to catch the attention of music icon Beyoncé, following in the footsteps of South African stars Busiswa and Moonchild who collaborated with Beyoncé on “My Power.”

Ngema is exploring a blend of Afro-soul, Amapiano, and alternative R&B, refusing to be confined to a single genre.

The 24-year-old actress remembers the anxiety and imposter syndrome she felt landing her first big role. Fortunately, she formed a close friendship with co-star Ama Qamata, who helped her navigate the industry.
