In a candid revelation on the latest episode of the Secrets Behind the Scenes podcast, Big Brother Naija reality star and actress Bamike Olawunmi, widely known as Bambam, has boldly dismissed the notion of ‘sex for roles’ in the Nigerian movie industry as a deceptive scam.

Bambam, drawing from her own experience, shed light on the exploitative tactics employed by some filmmakers, targeting eager young actresses. She recounted an incident where a producer handed her the keys to his hotel room after casting her for a cameo role.

In the podcast, she passionately urged aspiring actresses to be cautious, emphasizing that the purported rewards of sacrificing personal boundaries for roles are often hollow promises. She asserted, “Sex for roles is a scam. It’s not worth it. Some of them [victims] what they are paying them at the end of that production is not more than N50,000, N100,000. Don’t be deceived o! It’s a lie. It [sex for role] is a scam.”

Bambam shared a personal anecdote to drive her point home, revealing, “The one that I did waka pass that dem give me N5,000 and the guy [filmmaker] was giving me his hotel room key to hold. Ah! I don’t want to mention names.”
