Tragic news has emerged as the beloved Nigerian comic actor, John Okafor, affectionately known as Mr. Ibu, has succumbed to his illness at the age of 62. Reports from reliable sources close to the actor reveal that he breathed his last at the Evercare hospital.

The veteran comedian’s health struggles had been widely documented, with revelations in November that he had undergone a staggering seven surgeries. In a desperate bid to cling to life, Mr. Ibu had one of his legs amputated. However, his condition continued to worsen, leading to another leg amputation in December 2023. During this time, he could barely articulate words, as shared by the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), which called for prayers and support for the ailing entertainer.

Fans of the iconic actor have flooded social media platforms with heartfelt condolences, reminiscing about the memorable roles he played in various movies. In a sad turn of events, the family of Mr. Ibu had previously disclosed that despite successfully undergoing five surgeries, he would be flown abroad for additional treatment. Unfortunately, he breathed his last before this could come to fruition, marking the end of an era for Nigerian comedy and leaving a void in the hearts of his fans worldwide.
