Popular Afrobeats singer Teni Apata, known professionally as Teni, recently used her Instagram platform to address fans who constantly ask her for money. In a humorous post, Teni jokingly referred to these individuals as the “Beggars Association of Nigeria.”

Teni expressed her frustration with their persistent requests, stating, “You go beg pesin for money 3 days ago, come back again two days later to ask again. Am I your mother or father?”

She emphasized the lack of empathy from these individuals, highlighting that greetings or inquiries about her well-being are often absent from their pleas.

“They would call and not even ask ‘how you dey, how’s your life, are you okay?'” Teni said.

The singer further noted a recent shift in the currency of their requests, stating, “Now they don’t even ask for naira again o, na USD and pounds they ask for.”

Teni’s message echoes concerns previously raised by veteran Nollywood actor Chinedu Ikedieze (Aki) in July 2023. Aki similarly lamented the overwhelming number of financial requests he receives on social media.
