Tyla Beats Off Competition From Davido, Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, Asake & Olamide To Earn Inaugural Grammy

Tyla secures victory at the 2024 Grammy Awards by clinching the Best African Music Performance for her track “Water.”
This inaugural category witnessed fierce competition with nominees including Asake and Olamide (“Amapiano”), Ayra Starr (“Rush”), Burna Boy (“City Boys”), and Davido featuring Musa Keys (“Unavailable”).
The Best African Music Performance is part of the trio of new Grammy categories introduced this year, alongside Best Alternative Jazz Album and Best Pop Dance Recording, the latter of which was claimed by Kylie Minogue.
Tyla’s winning song, “Water,” is set to be featured on her upcoming self-titled debut album scheduled for release on March 22.
