Yemi Alade, the acclaimed Nigerian singer, dismissed comparisons between herself and her colleague, Tiwa Savage. On her X (formerly Twitter) page, the ‘Johnny’ singer expressed her delight at performing at the opening ceremony of the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast. 

However, when a fan asserted that she was superior to Tiwa Savage, Alade was unimpressed. She encouraged the fans to support and celebrate both artists, emphasizing that they are both successful. Alade characterized comparisons as “the thief of joy” and underscored the importance of celebrating their individual achievements. 

The fan had commented, “U better than Tiwa [Savage],” to which Yemi Alade responded, “Comparison is the thief of joy. We’re both winning…. celebrate and support us all.”
