Singer Britney Spears took to her verified Instagram account on Monday, expressing gratitude for Justin Timberlake’s latest musical offering. 

Despite her 2011 song “Selfish” topping the US iTunes chart over the weekend, outdoing Timberlake’s new song with the same title, Spears seemed uninterested in fostering a fan-driven rivalry. 

In a caption accompanying video clips of Timberlake’s recent performance on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,” Spears offered a heartfelt apology for any offensive content in her book. She specifically acknowledged her admiration for Timberlake’s new song “Selfish,” expressing how much she loved it. 

Additionally, Spears humorously mentioned the laughter-inducing dynamic between Justin and Jimmy Fallon whenever she sees them together. She concluded her post with praise for Timberlake’s another song, “Sanctified,” featuring Tobe Nwigwe, which debuted on “SNL” over the weekend. 

This positive acknowledgment comes amid Spears’ 2021 memoir, “The Woman in Me,” where she shared insights into the pain stemming from her relationship’s end with Timberlake, spanning from 1999 to 2002. 

Timberlake’s representatives have made no comments so far on Spears’ post.
