Chopper Crash Reportedly Claims Lives Of Access Bank CEO, Wigwe, His Son, Wife And Others.

The CEO of Access Holdings, Herbert Wigwe, along with his wife and son, are reportedly among the six passengers involved in a helicopter crash near the California-Nevada border, as per information from The New York Times. The crash occurred around 10 pm. local time near Nipton, California, an unincorporated community south of Las Vegas.

Access Holdings, the parent company of Access Bank, has not officially confirmed Mr. Wigwe’s death at the time of this report. However, sources close to the banker have shared that he, along with his wife and son, were aboard the Eurocopter EC130 helicopter operated by Orbic Air LLC.

The ill-fated Flight N130CZ, departing from Palm Springs, California, at 8:45 pm, was last seen near Fort Irwin/Barstow, California, at 9:49 pm on Friday. The circumstances leading to the crash of the Airbus Helicopter EC-130 remain unclear.

Officials from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department were notified of the crash at 10:12 p.m. local time, and the National Transportation Safety Board (N.T.S.B.) and Federal Aviation Administration (F.A.A.) are conducting investigations. The N.T.S.B. is expected to send representatives to the crash site on Saturday, as no survivors have been located as of the current report.
