The former Nigerian minister of finance, Mrs Okonjo-Iweala’s has been endorsed as the candidacy for DG of the world trade organization.
According to the repoters, it was unarguably confirmed on the 28th October,2020.
Mean while, it is contained in the endorsement letter signed by the Co-chairs of the Parliamentary Conference on the WTO Steering Group, Bernd Lange and Sven Simon, the EU Parliament which started clearly on screening the two remaining race and was convinced that the Nigerian candidate has the ‘energy’ and is ‘well-equipped’ for the job.
As regards to this Mrs Okonjo-Iweala of Nigeria and Yoo Myung-hee of South Korea are the two candidates left in the race started by eight from five countries.
And the Parliament expressed their satisfaction on mrs Okonjo-Iweala’s level of requirements and skills and therefore, urged the European Union to give their support for the candidacy of the former World Bank Managing Director which they adhered to and tender their wholly comemoration on the development.
Thereafter they appreciated in particular, the vision that Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala presented for manning the substantial challenges facing the organization.
