Canadian rapper Drake faced a staggering loss of $600,000 in a bet as Anthony Joshua emerged victorious over Francis Ngannou in their highly anticipated heavyweight bout held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. 

The fight, dubbed ‘Knockout Chaos,’ saw Joshua deliver a brutal knockout to Ngannou in the second round.

Drake, known for his penchant for placing substantial bets on sporting events, had publicly declared his support for Ngannou, posting on Instagram that he was wagering $615,000 on Ngannou to triumph over Joshua. 

Referring to Ngannou as a “scary man,” Drake joined other combat sports enthusiasts in backing the Cameroonian fighter, with the potential payout for his bet reaching $1.9 million. 

Despite his previous wins and losses in betting, Drake has become associated with the infamous “Drake Curse,” a phenomenon in which fans attribute misfortune to athletes and teams after being photographed with the rapper. 

Over time, the curse has affected various figures, including quarterback Johnny Manziel, UFC fighter Kamaru Usman, tennis star Serena Williams, and the Kentucky Wildcats Basketball team. 

In January, Drake lost over half a million pounds when he supported Sean Strickland in a UFC middleweight championship bout against Dricus Du Plessis, only to see Strickland defeated. 

However, Drake’s fortunes changed when he bet on YouTube boxer Logan Paul to defeat Conor McGregor’s training partner Dillon Danis, earning him a $1.3 million payout after Danis was disqualified in the final round. 

Prior to that, Drake experienced another setback when he missed out on a $920,000 payout after Nigeria-born Israel Adesanya lost his UFC middleweight title to Sean Strickland. Despite rooting for Adesanya to secure a knockout victory, Strickland clinched an upset win on points.
