Shatta Wale to Former Minister: "Shut Up! Liar!" Over Betting Tax Dispute.

Ghanaian singer Shatta Wale has entered the fray of a growing public debate, directly challenging former finance minister Mohammed Amin Adam’s claims regarding the betting tax.

Following the announcement of the 2025 budget, which included the abolishment of a previously implemented betting tax, Dr. Amin Adam stated that his administration had never actually collected such a tax. “Betting tax, which they said they have abolished, we never collected betting tax. So, to come and tell Ghanaians that you have abolished something that you have not implemented is to deceive the people of Ghana,” he asserted.

Shatta Wale, known for his outspoken nature, responded with a blunt rebuke. He shared a video of the former minister’s statement, captioning it, “Hey hey shut up there, shut up shut up there, Liar, Judas!” He further expressed his frustration by releasing a song titled “Betting Tax,” criticizing what he perceives as dishonest political rhetoric.

“Ghanaians are tired of the lies… common sense should tell these leaders that they come and go…” Shatta Wale wrote, also thanking President John Dramani Mahama for his focus on the country. The controversy surrounding the betting tax has ignited widespread discussion among Ghanaians, with many celebrities joining Shatta Wale in expressing their opinions.
