Tanzanian film actress Hawa Hussein Ibrahim, known to her fans as Carina, has passed away in India after a prolonged illness. Reports indicate that the actress succumbed while receiving medical treatment abroad.

Carina had been battling a persistent abdominal condition for the past nine years, requiring her to undergo a total of 24 surgeries. She had traveled to India on February 24, 2025, seeking specialized medical care after successfully completing travel arrangements and raising the necessary Sh54 million for treatment through public fundraising efforts supported by the government and various organizations.

Initial reports had suggested that Carina was expected to return to Tanzania on Tuesday following a major abdominal surgery. In addition to her acting career, Carina was also recognized for her appearance as a video vixen in “Oyoyo,” a popular music video by Tanzanian artist Bob Junior released approximately eight years ago, which further contributed to her public recognition. The Tanzanian entertainment industry and her fans are mourning her passing.
