Veteran Nollywood actor Jide Kosoko has ignited controversy by claiming some actresses enter the film industry with the express intention of using sexual relationships to advance their careers. Speaking on the “Honest Bunch” podcast, Kosoko addressed the long-standing issue of “sex for roles” in Nollywood.

Kosoko argued that while some may portray the issue as directors and producers coercing actresses, he believes that many women willingly engage in such exchanges. He stated that no one can be forced into sexual acts, and those who comply are making a conscious choice.

“I know some ladies that equally come into the industry with the determination that, by the time ‘I sleep with this and sleep with that, I will get my name,” Kosoko revealed. He further claimed to know “some popular actresses” and even a magistrate who have used this method. This revelation has sparked a heated debate about power dynamics and ethical conduct within the Nigerian film industry.
