Davido Shuts Down DMW In Favour of New Label Nine+ Records with Global Ambitions.

Davido Shuts Down DMW In Favour of New Label Nine+ Records with Global Ambitions.

Nigerian music heavyweight Davido is embarking on a new adventure in the music industry. Partnering with UnitedMasters, Davido has launched Nine+ Records, a fresh platform aimed at discovering and nurturing Nigerian musical talent. This move marks the closure of Davido’s previous label, Davido Music Worldwide (DMW), which had been a powerhouse in the Afrobeats scene.

Taking on a more hands-on role, Davido will be leading artist development and A&R (Artist and Repertoire) for Nine+ Records. This focus on artist development hints at Davido’s desire to cultivate the next generation of Afrobeats stars, but also suggests broader ambitions. There have been whispers of Nine+ Records venturing beyond Afrobeats, exploring genres like hip-hop, R&B, and even Latin music.

Fans of the DMW label need not fret – Davido has confirmed that all the artists previously signed to DMW will be transitioning to Nine+ Records. Nine+ Records seems poised to become a major player, leveraging Davido’s star power and industry connections to launch both established and upcoming Nigerian artists onto the global stage.
