Popular Nigerian Afrobeats artist, Ikuforiji Olaitan, known by his stage name Oxlade, has spoken out about the impact of a leaked sex tape in a recent interview.

A private video featuring Oxlade was leaked on social media platform Snapchat in February 2022. The singer revealed on the Afrobeats Intelligence Podcast that he had been previously blackmailed with the tape before it became public.

While admitting a sense of relief when the video was leaked due to the constant blackmail attempts, Oxlade did not shy away from the negative consequences. He shared that the scandal significantly impacted his family, mental wellbeing, and professional life.

The fallout included the loss of endorsement deals exceeding N400 million, a major blow to his brand image. This incident highlights the potential dangers of private content being leaked online, not only for personal privacy but also for professional success.
