Up-and-coming Nigerian singer, Ayra Starr, has issued a public apology to the legendary musician, King Sunny Ade, after facing criticism for perceived disrespect at an event.

Social media was abuzz with Nigerians expressing displeasure over Ayra Starr’s behavior, where she appeared to ignore Burna Boy’s mother and showed what was deemed as disrespect to King Sunny Ade.

In a video circulating online, Ayra Starr had neglected Burna Boy’s mother during greetings but went on to shake hands with King Sunny Ade.

Responding to the backlash, Ayra Starr posted a public apology on her official social media account. She explained that the overwhelming lights and nerves upon entering the event hindered her from recognizing everyone properly. She clarified that she later returned to greet everyone appropriately and asserted that she has never been the type to display disrespect.

The singer, emphasizing her Yoruba heritage, mentioned that the video started after she had already greeted Burna Boy’s mom and extended her sincere apologies to the legendary King Sunny Ade.
