Salma Mumin Defends Elrad Amoako After Fatal Accident, Draws Criticism.
Popular Ghanaian actress Salma Mumin has come to the defense of Elrad Amoako, the son of Salifu Amoako, who was involved in a tragic car accident in East Legon that claimed the lives of two young girls.
Appearing on UTV’s United Showbiz, Mumin expressed sympathy for Elrad, urging the public to be understanding. She emphasized that the accident was unintentional and highlighted the unpredictable nature of such incidents. Mumin also appealed to Ghanaians to consider the emotional pain Elrad’s parents must be enduring.
The October 12th accident involved a Jaguar SUV owned by Elrad Amoako’s mother, which collided with an Acura, resulting in a devastating fire. Tragically, 12-year-old Justine Agbenu and Maame Dwomoh Boateng lost their lives in the blaze. Following the incident, Salifu Amoako, his wife, and another individual were charged with permitting an unlicensed driver to operate the vehicle.
Mumin’s statement that “the boy did not use a gun in taking the lives of the kids” has drawn criticism from many who feel it downplays the severity of the situation. Her comments have sparked controversy, with some condemning her stance as insensitive.
Meanwhile, Elrad Amoako has been remanded by the Juvenile Court in Accra and his passports have been seized. He is scheduled to reappear in court on November 7th.
