At the 2024 Ojude Oba Festival, Farooq Oreagba captured the audience’s admiration, dressed in a striking green and yellow Asooke Agbada and riding majestically on horseback. His viral photo earned him the moniker “King of Steeze.”

The National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC) has honored Oreagba as an Honorary Ambassador. Obi Asika, NCAC Director General, shared the news on Instagram, celebrating Oreagba’s vibrant spirit and cultural representation.

“Farooq, diagnosed with terminal cancer a decade ago, has been an unwavering source of positivity and inspiration,” Asika wrote. “He epitomizes the best of Nigeria, bringing global attention to Ojude Oba and the rich traditions of the Ijebu people.”

The 2024 festival, a celebration of Ijebu-Ode’s Awujale and local culture, saw Oreagba’s stylish entrance become the highlight. His elegant attire and dignified demeanor have since trended on social media, showcasing Nigerian culture worldwide.

Oreagba, a former Head of Strategy & Business Development at the Nigerian Stock Exchange, is now Managing Director and CEO of NG Clearing. Despite a battle with cancer, he has emerged as a symbol of hope and resilience, embodying the indomitable Nigerian spirit.
