Nigerian music megastar, Davido, faces accusations from Sophia Momodu, the mother of his first child, Imade, of neglecting their daughter for the past two years. The allegations emerged in response to a lawsuit filed by Davido over the custody of Imade.

In a statement dated June 22, 2024, and released by her legal representatives, Punuka Attorneys & Solicitors and Bimpe Ajegbomogun & Co, Momodu disclosed that Davido has not seen their daughter since July 2022. She emphasized that this was his choice and not due to any obstruction on her part.

Davido’s lawsuit, filed on April 17, 2024, by his lawyers Dr. Olaniyi Arije, Okey Barrah, and others at the Lagos State High Court, seeks unrestricted access to Imade. He claims to have consistently fulfilled his paternal duties, including paying school fees and providing accommodation and transportation.

However, Momodu counters these claims, stating that Davido has stopped paying for Imade’s school fees since July 2022, leaving her to handle all financial responsibilities. She also alleged that Davido has used his social influence to isolate her and that attempts to establish a formal co-parenting arrangement have been unsuccessful due to his lawyers’ lack of cooperation.

Momodu further accused Davido of threatening her over her refusal to engage in a sexual relationship with him post their breakup in 2022. Despite these allegations, she reiterated that she has never denied him access to their daughter, only to her body and intimacy.

Momodu seeks to move forward without harassment, emphasizing the importance of Davido’s emotional presence in their daughter’s life over financial support.
