Howard University has stripped Sean Combs, also known as Diddy, of the honorary degree awarded to him in 2014. The decision comes after a video emerged showing Combs assaulting his former girlfriend.

The university’s Board of Trustees voted unanimously to accept the return of the degree, citing the video and multiple sexual assault charges against Combs as reasons for the decision. The university considers Combs’ behavior to be incompatible with its core values.

Combs, a former Howard student who left before graduating, received the honorary doctorate in 2014 and served as the commencement speaker.
