Uganda: Apass Joins Forces with Nile Breweries to Combat Illicit Alcohol.
Popular Ugandan musician, Apass Bagonza, has teamed up with Nile Breweries Limited (NBL) to spearhead the annual “Drink Easy Easy N’enya Lunaku” campaign. This year’s initiative focuses on the alarming issue of illicit alcohol consumption, a significant challenge facing Uganda.
Apass unveiled a new song, “Drink Easy Easy,” encouraging responsible drinking habits. He emphasized the importance of moderation and the need for individuals to prioritize their well-being. Nile Breweries highlighted the dangerous consequences of illicit alcohol, which accounts for a staggering 65% of alcohol consumed in the country.
The company stressed the need for a comprehensive approach to address the problem, criticizing the Alcoholic Drinks Control Bill for failing to effectively tackle illicit alcohol. Emmanuel Njuki, NBL’s Head of Legal and Corporate Affairs, provided practical tips for safe drinking, including eating before drinking, pacing consumption, and avoiding drinking and driving.
Nile Breweries reaffirmed its commitment to promoting responsible alcohol consumption and expressed satisfaction with the partnership with Apass, who, they believe can effectively reach a wide audience with the campaign’s message.
