Eddy Kenzo Accuses Bobi Wine of Stealing Song Ideas.

Eddy Kenzo Accuses Bobi Wine of Stealing Song Ideas.

Ugandan music star Eddy Kenzo has accused his former mentor, Bobi Wine, of stealing his song ideas during their time together in the Firebase Crew. Kenzo, born Edrisah Musuuza, claims that Wine would alter his lyrics or translate his Luganda songs into English, effectively taking ownership of the music. According to Kenzo, these creative differences and disputes over payments were key factors in his decision to leave the group.

The controversy was reignited during a recent interview, where Kenzo shared more details of his time in Firebase, a group led by Bobi Wine that included other notable artists like Wine’s brother, Mikie Wine. Kenzo recalls how, in the early stages of his career, he worked closely with the group, even recording one of his first hit songs in collaboration with Mikie Wine. However, his relationship with Bobi Wine began to deteriorate, leading to years of tension between the two.

Kenzo recounted his first encounter with Bobi Wine at Wallet Pub in Kabuusu, where Wine complimented his performance. At that time, Kenzo was gaining popularity with his debut single “Tuteese.” “One day, they told me that Bobi Wine liked my performance. I don’t know if the emcee was lying, but it gave me hope,” Kenzo explained. This approval from the prominent artist encouraged him to seek opportunities within Firebase.

Despite his initial enthusiasm, Kenzo’s relationship with Wine soured over time. He made frequent visits to Firebase in hopes of connecting with Wine, eventually working with other members of the group before finally meeting Wine himself. Their collaboration seemed promising at first, but Kenzo now claims that Wine manipulated their working relationship for his own benefit.

As Kenzo’s music career grew, so did the tension between him and Bobi Wine. While Kenzo went on to achieve international success, Wine transitioned from music into politics, becoming the leader of Uganda’s largest opposition party. The rift between them has only widened in recent years, with both men publicly clashing over various issues.

Kenzo, now a presidential advisor, hinted that their differences were not just about music but also reflected deeper personal and professional conflicts. While their once-close relationship is now fractured, Kenzo remains vocal about his grievances, leaving fans to speculate whether the two will ever reconcile.
