Tyla Dominates SAMA30 Nominations.
Grammy-winning South African singer Tyla has emerged as the top contender at this year’s South African Music Awards (SAMAs), securing five nominations for her self-titled album. The nominations were announced on Thursday at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand.
Other notable nominees include Kabza De Small and Mthunzi, with four nominations each. Jazz artist and actor Mbuso Khoza also received multiple nods for his work on the Shaka iLembe TV series soundtrack.
In the highly competitive Male Artist of the Year category, Amapiano stars Kelvin Momo, Daliwonga, and De Mthuda will face off against rapper Priddy Ugly and Maskandi artist Ugatsheni.
Tyla is also in the running for the Ukhozi FM Female Artist of the Year award, alongside Brenda Mtambo, Lwah Ndlunkulu, Lordkez, and Xolly Mncwango.
The SANTAM Newcomer of the Year category features a diverse group of artists, including Tyla, Lwah Ndlunkulu, and Sykes.
In August, the nominees for the Motsepe Foundation Record of the Year and RAV Music Video of the Year were revealed. Tyler ICU’s chart-topping single “Mnike” and Tyla’s global hit “Water” are among the contenders for these prestigious awards.
The SAMA30 awards ceremony will take place on November 2, according to broadcaster Luthando Lootlove Shosa.
