Flavia Tumusiime Ditches Media for Tech Career.
Ugandan media personality Flavia Tumusiime has announced a significant career change, leaving behind her 21-year stint in the industry to pursue a career in software development.
The 36-year-old mother of three revealed her decision on Saturday evening, explaining that she felt there were no further heights to reach in the media sector. Instead, she was drawn to the world of technology and innovation, where she could apply the skills she had acquired over the years.
Tumusiime has been actively working towards her new career path, completing online coding training while juggling her responsibilities as a mother. She emphasized the demanding but rewarding nature of her journey, often coding late into the night after her twins had gone to sleep.
The former Capital FM presenter described her decision to switch careers as a “necessary” one, driven by her desire to fully immerse herself in the tech world. She aimed to gain a deep understanding of both backend and frontend development, ensuring she was equipped to contribute meaningfully to the industry.
Tumusiime’s departure from Capital FM came in August 2022, coinciding with her second pregnancy. The complicated nature of her pregnancy led her to take a break from her media career to focus on caring for herself and her newborn twins.
Now, with her children growing older, Tumusiime is ready to return to work and explore new opportunities. She expressed her gratitude for her husband’s support in her decision to pursue a career change and advance her professional goals.
