Afro-dancehall star Livingstone Etse Satekla, known as Stonebwoy, has filed a defamation lawsuit against aspiring politician and entertainment critic Sadiq Abdulai Abu, popularly known as Baba Sadiq. The case, submitted to the High Court of Justice on May 31, 2024, seeks a court order for Baba Sadiq to delete the offensive tweets and issue an unconditional apology to Stonebwoy.

The reigning Ghanaian Artist of the Year is also demanding GHS 3 million in damages, accusing Baba Sadiq of maliciously spreading false statements that have harmed his reputation. The contentious tweets alleged that Stonebwoy is a violent female abuser, claims that have gone viral and ignited public debate, especially given Stonebwoy’s history of advocating for women’s rights and his philanthropic work.

Observers had previously expressed concern over Stonebwoy’s decision to initially ignore the comments. The lawsuit underscores his resolve to safeguard his reputation through legal means.
