Timaya: I Can Never Date A Nigerian Girl.
Renowned Nigerian singer, Timaya, recently revealed that he opts not to date Nigerian women, citing concerns about potential toxicity in such relationships. The artist made these candid remarks during a guest appearance on the latest episode of The Morning Rush on The Beat 99.9FM.
Timaya, known for his Afrobeat music, asserted that Nigerian women do not align with his preferences when it comes to romantic relationships. He offered unfiltered insights into his perspective on love, emphasizing the importance of understanding personal preferences in such matters.
In expressing the subjective nature of romantic connections, Timaya stated, “You have to know who to love. A person may not be right for you, but they’re not wrong either, you feel me.”
The singer went on to clarify that his stance is not a generalization about Nigerian individuals, as he stated, “I don’t have a problem with Nigerian girls or Nigerian men. If I was a Nigerian girl, I wouldn’t date a Nigerian man. And myself right now, I can’t date a Nigerian girl.”
When pressed about the nationality of the woman he is currently romantically involved with, Timaya responded with a resounding “Hell no.” He explained his reluctance to date a Nigerian woman, attributing it to shared cultural backgrounds that could lead to a toxic dynamic. Timaya elaborated, “I can’t date a Nigerian girl because of the same foundation and upbringing. The relationship would be like police and thief, it’s too toxic. We go dey lie for each other too much, wetin happen. Even when something no dey wrong, you go dey find problem.” These comments shed light on the potential challenges arising from similar cultural backgrounds in romantic relationships.
