Tanzanian actress Grace Mapunda, affectionately known as “Tesa” or “Mama Kawele,” has sadly passed away on Saturday morning. The renowned actress, who starred in the popular TV show “Huba,” succumbed to illness at Mwananyamala Hospital in Dar es Salaam, where she was receiving treatment in the intensive care unit.

The news of her passing was confirmed by the chairperson of the Tanzania Actors’ Association, Chiki Mchoma. Despite a recent recovery from a prolonged illness, Ms. Mapunda’s condition deteriorated, leading to her hospitalization.

Ms. Mapunda was a beloved figure in the Tanzanian film industry. Her extensive body of work includes notable films such as “House of Death,” “Hard Price,” and “Nilindiwe,” as well as the television series “Huba.” Her contributions to the entertainment industry will be deeply missed.
