Tycoon Kananura Stirs Controversy Over Frank Gashumba’s Paternity Claims.
In a heated exchange, businessman Donati Kananura has publicly cast doubt on whether Frank Gashumba is the biological father of socialite Sheilah Gashumba, hinting that he has personal insights challenging Gashumba’s claim. Kananura, a well-known 84-year-old businessman from Kanungu, has criticized Gashumba’s leadership of the Abavandimwe, a group representing long-standing Banyarwanda citizens in Uganda. Kananura has even initiated efforts to have Gashumba removed from his leadership position.
The clash follows a recent meeting led by Gashumba, where a delegation from the Abavandimwe met with President Yoweri Museveni to discuss grievances around alleged abuses of citizenship rights by officials in the Immigration Department and NIRA. This high-profile meeting appears to have amplified the ongoing friction between the two men. Kananura, a close friend of Gashumba’s late father, alleged that Gashumba lacks assets and family stability, asserting that “Gashumba is not a man” and adding, “He doesn’t even have a woman willing to marry him.”
In a fiery response, Gashumba, who shares a daughter with Christine Mukuza, dismissed Kananura’s insinuations. When questioned about Sheilah’s parentage, Kananura retorted, “Were you there when he was impregnating the mother? He might be claiming her as his when she isn’t. I think he is not even functional… we know each other very well.” Kananura maintains that he and Gashumba’s father shared a close bond, having co-owned a coffee factory in their youth, a connection Gashumba has acknowledged in previous interviews.
Responding to Kananura’s comments, Gashumba countered, “Kananura, you have three wives give me one, and I’ll show her fire. You’ll need an ambulance to carry her afterwards” He advised Kananura to avoid personal attacks, cautioning that any attempts to undermine him would fail in the media, where he claims deep-rooted experience. The feud, highlighting deep-rooted tensions, has ignited public debate about the complex personal and political dynamics within the Abavandimwe community.
