Veteran Ghanaian actress, Maame Dokono, has vehemently denied rumours linking her romantically to former President Jerry John Rawlings. The actress made the clarification during a press launch for her upcoming memoir, “By the Fireside” on Tuesday.

Dokono, who is set to celebrate her 80th birthday and 60-year acting career, took the opportunity to address the persistent speculation about her relationship with the late NDC founder. She dismissed the claims as unfounded and emphasized that she never had a romantic involvement with Rawlings.

The actress also shared anecdotes about her involvement in Ghanaian politics, revealing that the late Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings introduced her to the political landscape. Dokono admitted to joining both the NPP and NDC to ensure her political survival but stressed that she has since retired from politics.

Her memoir, scheduled for launch on August 7, is expected to delve deeper into her life experiences, including her political journey.
