Renowned Afrobeat musician Femi Kuti has made a shocking revelation during the 2024 Felaberation Festival in Lagos, Nigeria. He claimed that some of his family’s greatest enemies are members of their ethnic group, the Yoruba.

Kuti specifically named former President Olusegun Obasanjo and the late business mogul MKO Abiola as significant adversaries of the Kuti family. He explained that despite their Yoruba heritage, the Kuti family does not adhere to tribalism, having been influenced by pan-Africanist ideals during their upbringing.  

The musician criticized the growing ethnic tensions in Nigeria, urging his audience to reject tribalism and embrace unity. Kuti’s statement has sparked widespread debate and discussion about the complex nature of ethnic relationships in Nigeria, particularly within the Yoruba community.
