Nigerian Afrobeats Star Omah Lay revealed he had to scrap a new album after a collaborator allegedly used his unique sound for their own project.

Known for his emotional lyrics exploring love and life struggles, Omah Lay opened up about the incident during a recent interview.

Omah Lay stated he shared a new sound concept with a fellow artist he admires. He envisioned this sound as the future of Afrobeats.

Unfortunately, five months later, the same artist released an album heavily featuring the sound Omah Lay had confided in them.

Despite the setback, Omah Lay remained unfazed. He announced he had re-recorded his entire album, claiming it will be “the greatest album of all time in Afrobeats history.”

Following his critically acclaimed debut “Boy Alone,” fans are excited for Omah Lay’s sophomore album. He recently released the single “Moving,” his first solo project of 2024.
