Afrobeats Artists are Lazy: Flavour Supports Buju Banton, Critiques Afrobeats Depth.

Nigerian highlife singer Chinedu Okoli, better known as Flavour, has agreed with Jamaican reggae legend Buju Banton’s controversial statement that Afrobeats music lacks depth.

Banton, who previously stirred debate by calling Afrobeats “f*ckery,” claimed that the genre lacked substance and would eventually fade away.

Flavour, in a recent episode of the ‘In My Opinion’ podcast, expressed his support for Banton’s perspective. He attributed the lack of depth in Afrobeats to the laziness of its artists.

“I comprehend what Buju Banton is trying to convey. Today’s musicians are not seeking challenges; they simply want to have a good time,” he lamented.

Flavour further emphasized that Buju Banton might be attempting to stir the artistic spirit of Afrobeats musicians.

Interestingly, Flavour has distanced himself from the Afrobeats genre, clarifying that he is a high-life artist. He criticized the tendency of Western media to categorize all African artists under the umbrella of Afrobeats.
