Abuja Shut Down Continues Because Of Covid-19

Abuja court shuts down Wuse Market, others over covid-19 violation.

The Abuja Mobile court has recently shut down the popular Wuse Market and other  Murg shopping malls for violating the presidential directives on COVID-19. The court precisely convicted about 100 persons who were arrested by the enforcement team for not fixing up their face masks in public places.

However, This came barely six days after President Muhammadu Buhari signed the COVID-19 Health Protection Regulations 2021. And the same regulations were also confirmed by FCTA three days ago.

As regards to that, this operation was carried out following the directive by FCT Minister authorising security agencies to arrest anyone violating the guidelines.

Meanwhile, the court president, Magistrate Idayat Akanni, fined the violators N2,000 each, with an option of two-week community service. And She futher addressed the lamented  that the convicts were given lenient penalties because they were first offenders.

With the diciplinary measure meted on those offenders will serve as some level of deterrent to others not to violate the presidential regulations on covid19, she added.
