Kuti, the youngest son of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, shared a video on Instagram showing the bullet hole and shattered glass in his hotel window. Clearly shaken, the singer expressed his disbelief at the incident, questioning the narrative of America being a safe and “civilized” society.

“I read somewhere that these are the civilized people,” he said in the video. “Tell me you are in America without telling me you are in America. I am in my hotel room just chilling and boom, this happened.”
